Heather Watson failed to reach the main draw of the $25,000 Pelham Racquet Women's Club Pro Circuit Challenger event in Alabama. She had made it to the last round of qualifying by beating American Emily Newton and Czech Eva Pigova. The Guernsey teenager, ranked 406 in the world, lost 6-2 6-0 to American Julia Boserup who is ranked 158 places below her in 564th spot. Watson beat Pigova 6-2 6-2 and Newton 6-0 6-0 in the earlier rounds.
