 Watson beat three seeded players on her way to the final in Florida |
Guernsey's Heather Watson has lost the final of the Eddie Herr International tournament in the United States. The 16-year-old was beaten by American number nine seed Lauren Embree 6-0, 6-1 in Florida on Sunday. Watson will make another surge up the world junior tennis rankings this week as she has reached two consecutive tournament finals. On her way to the final, Watson beat world number 10 Kristina Maldenovic, who is ranked 24 places higher. Watson, who was un-seeded for the event, also beat two other seeded players, including Kazakhstan's world number 28 and third seed Zarina Diyas (3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the semi-finals). She also beat Russia's sixth seed Yana Buchina, who is world number 35, 6-1, 6-2 to in the quarter-finals.
