Launceston sign scrum-half Jason Spice

Spice scored six tries in 29 appearances for Bristol last season

Former Bristol scrum-half Jason Spice has signed for National One side Launceston on a game-by-game basis.

The 35-year-old New Zealander left Bristol in July after the club failed to win promotion to the Premiership.

Spice has also played for Cardiff Blues, Ospreys and New Zealand sides Wellington and Waikato.

Launceston director of rugby Simon Owens said: "Jason just wants to play rugby and a guy of that class involved in your squad is just immense."

He added: "He feels he wants to give something back to rugby and we're going to try and use him from a coaching capacity as well."

Spice is in line to make his debut for Launceston against Tynedale at Polson Bridge on Saturday.
