Westren's hat-trick helped Launceston ease to victory |
Launceston centre Ryan Westren ran in a hat-trick of tries to help his side claim the bragging rights in the first Cornish derby of the season. After an early exchange of penalties, Westren went over to give Launceston a 13-3 half-time lead. The second period saw the home side continue to pile on the pressure, with four more tries ensuring a bonus point. The Reds did manage to trouble the scoreboard late on with tries from Luke Collins and Richie Kevern. Kieron Lewitt and Richard Bright were the other try scorers for Launceston, who remain bottom of the National One table because of a 20-point deduction enforced in pre-season for going into voluntary liquidation. Mal Roberts kicked three penalties and three conversions for the home side, while Aaron Penberthy slotted one penalty and a conversion for the Reds.
