Jersey's forwards have dominated all year |
Jersey enjoyed a comprehensive 59-10 win over Dorking in terrible conditions to maintain their 50 points a game average in National London Three. It was a powerful all round display from the Islanders including eight tries in total and 19 points from the boot of kicking specialist Dan Hawkes. Centres Donovan Sanders and Sam Tuia with a try each in the first half. Six more after the break; Paul Rogers, Ed Dawson, another to Sam Tuia, Nick Trower and two more to Donovan Sanders. | Every game this season we've ground it out up front before we've gone to the backs and sometimes these forwards don't get the credit they deserve |
Dorking were rewarded by a late consolation score from Steve Richards but Jersey claimed another bonus point win. Dorking coach Richie Andrews was impressed with Jersey. "Obviously with the set up Jersey's got and the players they've recruited, they're a good outfit and deserve to be playing in a higher league." However, ever stringent Jersey coach Ben Harvey believes it could have been better. "I'm a bit disappointed we let them in at the end, but all in all a great performance especially in the conditions." While Jersey's centre paring of Sam Tuia and Donovan Sanders again claimed the majority of the points for the home side, Harvey believes his forward pack is one of the main reasons for Jersey's success. "Every game this season we've ground it out up front before we've gone to the backs and sometimes these forwards don't get the credit they deserve." Jersey travel to fourth placed Havant next Saturday.
