Jersey's big forward pack put Diss under a lot of pressure

Jersey Rugby Club moved into second place in National League Three after a thumping 67-5 win over Diss at St Peter on Saturday.

Jersey are two points behind Hampshire side Havant, who stay top after a 29-9 win over Basingstoke.

The Island side scored four first-half tries to lead 26-0 and then piled on another seven after the break.

Head coach Ben Harvey said: "I thought our boys were terrific, [in the] second half especially."

We can't ask for more than that, especially in this league; I am very pleased and the boys did very well

After losing the first match of the season 24-19 to Bracknell, Jersey have now won three in a row, against North Walsham, Sutton & Epsom and Diss.

In each of the three matches the Island side has picked up valuable bonus points and Harvey said that, after the first round loss, picking up the points is exactly what the side needs to do.

"We can't ask for more than that, especially in this league. I am very pleased and the boys did very well."

Jersey travel to Hertfordshire next weekend to play Old Albanians, who won 15-5 at North Walsham.

Meanwhile Jersey seconds beat Diss seconds 48-17 in a friendly.
