More than 200 surfers will arrive in Jersey on Saturday for the start of the 2009 EuroSurf competition. The event is being hosted by the Jersey Surfboard Club at St Ouen's Bay and runs from 26 September to 4 October. A total of 13 different nations will be represented at the competition with the Channel Islands set to provide one of the strongest teams. The opening ceremony is being held on Saturday at Liberation Square in St Helier from 1715 BST.
