Jersey's forward pack scored a first-half push over try. |
Jersey climbed to the top of National League Three with a crushing 72-8 win over Hayward's Heath on Saturday. Jersey were 43-3 up at half time, with Donavan Saunders and Ashley Maggs each scoring two tries to go with a penalty try and one from Nick Trower. A further five tries in the second half took Jersey's points tally at home this season to 184 compared to just 13 against. "I was very pleased. First half especially, we were very accurate with what we did and put the ball in the right areas," head coach Ben Harvey told BBC Jersey. Jersey now have 25 points from their six games, one more than second-place Hertford, who beat Dorking 33-17. | We're playing the way I want the side to play, which is terrific Jersey head coach Ben Harvey |
"All we can keep doing is focussing on our own performance," added Harvey. "We know that if we do the right thing we're going to put sides under pressure. "I don't really care what the other teams are doing, I'm just focussing on what we do." Jersey have now notched 40 tries this season, with the scores being split evenly between the backs and the forwards. "We're playing the way I want the side to play, which is terrific," said Harvey. "All-in-all it was a great performance."
