Redruth head coach Nigel Hambly said he never thought his side were going to lose as they beat Cornish rivals Mounts Bay 41-10 in Saturday's derby match. The National League One leaders ran in four tries at the Recreation Ground to go seven points clear at the top. "I thought Mounts Bay caused us a few problems but I never thought we were going to lose," Hambly told BBC Radio Cornwall after the win.
"As the game wore on we dominated more and more," he added. "They caused us a few problems early on but we scrambled well and got back". Redruth outscored Mounts Bay by four tries to one as their pack dominated the Cornish derby. Prop Darren Jacques, right-wing Paul Thirby and number eight James Mann all went over, with Thirby's second try securing a bonus point. Mounts Bay lock John Griffiths was sent off for punching, leaving them with 14 men for the last half hour. Scrum-half Greg Goodfellow's try was a token reply as the Penzance visitors were well beaten.
