Merrien first won the British Isles title back in 2002 |
Guernsey's Alison Merrien has won her third consecutive British Isle Bowls Championship. Merrien beat Scotland's Julie Forrest 21-15 in the final in Birmingham to win her fourth overall national title. Merrien's victory means she equals England's Norma Shaw's record of four British Isles titles. "It's still as good as ever," Merrien told BBC Guernsey after the win. "It's a huge achievement and you always take it game to game," she added. But there was no Guernsey win in the men's fours as the island side of Garry and Nigel Collins, Gary Pitschou and Matt Le Ber lost to Scotland 21-10.
