Alison Merrien has won the British Isles singles title for the past two years

Guernsey bowler Alison Merrien edged through to the final of the British Isles Indoor Bowls Championships in Belfast on Wednesday.

The reigning champion, who has not lost in the event since 2006, beat rising English star Sian Gordon 21-20 to book her place in the final.

Scotland's Julie Forrest awaits Merrien in Thursday's final after she beat Ireland's Wilma Adair 21-7.

Guernsey's men's fours team are also through to their final.

The team of Garry Collins, Nigel Collins, Gary Pitschou and Matt Le Ber beat England 19-16 to set up a meeting with Scotland on Thursday.
