Hill finished third in the European Championship trials

Guernsey surfer Tom Hill was the best of the local riders at the European Championship trials this weekend.

Hill was one of three Guernsey surfers at the event in Jersey looking to earn a spot on the Channel Island team.

He finished third overall, with Johnny Wallbridge seventh while Jake Warr was eliminated in the first round.

This was the first of four qualification events with each surfers' best three performances being used to determine team selection.
