Three Guernsey surfers missed out on the honours at the Channel Island Surfing Championships held in Jersey.

Current Guernsey champion Tom Hill made it to the semi-finals in the Open Division at St Ouen's, before losing to eventual winner Scott Eastwood.

Former Channel Islands number one Johnny Walbridge made it to round three but was outpointed by Alex Vibert.

In the Under-18s division, Jake Warr reached the final where he was beaten by Jersey's Matt Chapman.

Selectors were looking to pick the Channel Island squad for 2009's European tournament, to be held in Jersey.

All three Sarnians are expected to compete in October's Guernsey Surfing Championships which are being staged at Vazon and Portinfer.
