David Knight has decided to compete in the second round of the Enduro World Championship in Portugal, despite carrying a groin injury.

Knight was forced to abandon Saturday's opening round in Spain after the recurrence of the problem.

"I need surgery, but there are no appointments. I can't just sit around and twiddle my thumbs, so I'm going race," he said.

The Manx rider is in pursuit of his fourth outdoor EWC Class 3 world title.

The 32-year-old rider continued: "It's one of those things really. I will take some pain killers and do my best to get the job done, for me and the team."

Four-time world champion Mika Ahola won both the opening rounds and leads the series with 50 points.
