Knight adds the EWC title to the 2010 British Enduro Championship and British Enduro Sprint titles
David Knight won the Enduro 3 World Championship title on Sunday, with one round of the series still to go. The Manx rider went into the penultimate EWC round in Turkey with a 52-point advantage over closest rival Christophe Nambotin. For the second week running Nambotin failed to finish the opening day and a second place followed by a win on the second day sealed Knight's victory. The victory is the Isle of Man rider's third EWC title. The KTM star said: "It's a great feeling and a big relief to have wrapped up the Enduro 3 championship. | I knew it wouldn't be easy to win this year, it never is, but I just kept working hard and staying positive. |
"After everything that happened last year to win another title means a lot to me, probably more than winning my first two championships." Meanwhile, fellow Manxman Alex Rockwell had a frustrating weekend in the Junior Class. The 21-year-old crashed on both days suffering a bruised shoulder and a broken finger. The Team MPS racer had been as high as 11th place. Team boss Mick Seward told BBC Isle of Man: "He was very disappointed. He was riding well but the luck wasn't with him." The final round of the championships will take place in France on the 25 September.
