Knight will be going for his fourth world title in 2011 |
David Knight emphatically won rounds three and four of the elite class at the Husqvarna British Sprint Enduro Championships over the weekend. The Isle of Man enduro rider is set to start the defence of his world title during April. "It's been a good and fast weekend, and a great final shake down ahead of the first EWC race in Spain," he said. "We made some changes to the bike before the race, which is now the final specification for the world champs." He added: "We didn't change it once so I feel really confident on the bike now." Knight has now won three of the first four rounds in the BSEC, finishing runner-up in the other race. The reigning Enduro 3 World Champion dominated both days of competition in the dry and sunny conditions at Monmouth, finishing almost two minutes ahead of Welshman Greg Evans on day one and by well over a minute on day two. McCanney has recently been training with David Knight in Florida |
Meanwhile, fellow Manx rider Danny McCanney stormed to victory in the Under-23 class. The Gas Gas UK rider was in scintillating form after 10 days in Florida with Knight and won 14 out of 15 stages to claim a comprehensive victory. McCanney said: "It's been a really good weekend for me. It's a bit of a shame I wasn't able to win my class on all laps as I only missed out on winning one, but I'm pleased with everything. I am looking forward to starting my European competitions now." Alex Rockwell finished fourth despite dropping his bike on the opening test. Jamie McCanney rounded off a great day for the Manx riders, finishing second in round three of the Under-19 class before winning Sunday's fourth round.
