Stoke Potters to host races to decide final 2011 rider
Tattum took the decision for Stoke to drop into the National League
Stoke Potters will host a series of races at Loomer Road, with the overall victor being offered a place in the Potters' final line-up for 2011.
Promoter Dave Tattum has one slot to fill in the Stoke team for their first year competing in the National League.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "We're going to invite about eight riders and we're going to let them fight it out.
"We'll put a series of races on with the eight riders and the best on the day will get the number seven jacket."
The races are due to take place on the Potters' annual press and practice day.
"We'll have them timed over the four laps, it will be a proper race and we'll pick the best one on his performance during the afternoon on merit," continued Tattum.
The Potters have completely revamped their line-up, with Simon Lambert, Tony Atkin, Tim Webster, Gareth Isherwood, James Sarjeant and Jaimie Pickard committing themselves to Stoke in 2011.
Financial pressures forced Tattum to take Stoke down a division and into the National League, a decision that he said has been backed by the majority of supporters.
"We've had loads of positive stuff and support from other speedway teams up and down the country," said Tattum.
"The view is that speedway at Loomer Road is better than no speedway at Loomer Road.
"If I hadn't have done what I've done, we would have been in the same scenario as Coventry and Peterborough are now, with no speedway at their clubs."
