Eugene Laverty had to settle for second place behind World Supersport leader Kenan Sofuoglu in Monday's latest round of the Championship in Salt Lake City. Laverty had won the three previous rounds but the Turkish rider took victory by 1.028 seconds to extend his series lead to six points. Jonathan Rea finished 14th and eighth in Monday's Superbike races in the USA. Max Biaggi won both races and lies second in the series, 10 behind Leon Haslam, with Rea third in the series. Haslam has 242 points, Biaggi 232 and Rea 143. Spain's Joan Lascorz took third behind Sofuoglu and Laverty in the Supersport race and also remains in touch in the championship on 128 points. Sofuoglu leads the standings on 142 points ahead of Toomebridge man Laverty (136).
