Jonathan Rea finished third in the opening World Superbike Championship race in Portugal on Sunday.

The Ten Kate Honda rider was forced to retire in the second race and he lies sixth in the standings.

Max Biaggi won both races with championship leader Leon Haslam twice coming in behind the Italian.

Toomebridge rider Eugene Laverty, who won the opening race of the World Supersport series in Australia, finished 11th in Portimao.

Laverty's disappointing placing in Portugal leaves him third in the championship, 11 points behind pacesetter Kenan Sofuoglu.
