Laverty clinches Supersport win

Eugene Laverty started the race from second on the grid

Eugene Laverty claimed his first World Supersport victory in thrilling fashion in Qatar on Saturday.

The Toomebridge rider produced a brilliant overtaking manoeuvre to overhaul Australian Andrew Pitt on the final corner to clinch the win.

Meanwhile, Ballyclare's Jonathan Rea finished a disappointing 12th in the opening World Supersport race.

The HannSpree Ten Kate rider improved in the second race by finishing in eighth place.
