Jonathan Rea lies eighth in the championship standings

Jonathan Rea was a disappointing 17th in the final Superpole session for Saturday's World Superbike round.

"I'd been running near the top for two days so I used a soft race tyre in the Superpole session but unfortunately it didn't work," said Rea afterwards.

The HannSpree Ten Kate rider had been second fastest in the final qualifying session for the Qatar round at Losail.

Eugene Laverty will start from second place on the grid for the World Supersport race after qualifying well.
