Walker was fastest in the two morning testing sessions at Valencia |
Jersey racing driver James Walker has set the fastest times in testing ahead of the 2009 Renault World Series. Walker, who has moved to the 2008 championship-winning P1 team, led the way on both morning tests at Valencia. "We had fastest times during both mornings and I'm especially pleased as Valencia is not one of my favourite tracks," Walker said. Walker has one more set of tests before the start of the season in Barcelona at the end of the month. Walker's season begins at the city's Circuit de Catalunya over the weekend of 18 and 19 April and he hopes to set the fastest times again in preparation for the opening races. "I've really enjoyed these last two tests; the car is fantastic to drive and we have been able to fully focus on what we need to do to enable us to come out fighting in Barcelona," he said "It's not going to be easy as it is very tight at the top but we plan to keep on pushing all the way." This will be Walker's third season in the World Series, seen as two rungs below Formula One. He spent his first two seasons racing for the Fortec team, with whom he raced at Formula Three level in 2005.
