Walker had a productive weekend behind the wheel of the Rangers car |
Jersey racing driver James Walker has said he enjoyed his debut in motor racing's Superleague Formula event at Germany's Nurburgring at the weekend. Racing for the Glasgow Rangers team as a replacement for their regular driver Walker was fastest in practice. A spin in front of him on his flying lap meant he only qualified 14th. But from that position he rose up to fourth in race one, and a similar position in race two before spinning out of the race. "I had a great time driving the Superleague Formula car," Walker said. | We should have won at Le Mans, now we need to go and prove we can do it |
"I would love to do it again so hopefully there will be more opportunities for me in this series." Walker is now going to take part in the penultimate race of the World Series by Renault with the Fortec team this coming weekend at the former Portuguese Formula One circuit at Estoril. And he added: "I've been looking forward to this one since last year, I loved racing at Estoril and now we understand the car we can get the best out of it. "After the pace we had at Le Mans and the good weekend in Germany, I'm expecting a strong weekend. "We should have won at Le Mans, now we need to go and prove we can do it."
