Jersey's Walker to race for Gers

James Walker
Walker is on loan at Rangers from Liverpool

Jersey racing driver James Walker is to race for the Rangers FC team at the Superleague Formula meeting at the Nurburgring next weekend.

The series, which sees top football teams sponsor racing cars, is in its first season and the German race will only be the second in its history.

He is on loan to Rangers, having tested the Liverpool car earlier this year.

"My first impressions of the Superleague Formula car were really good," Walker said.

"It has a lot of power and it looked and felt fantastic I can't wait for the opportunity to try the car on fresh tyres and represent Rangers next week," he added.

Walker, who currently drives for the Fortec team in the World Series by Renault, will hope to fare better at the Nurburgring next weekend than he did with in the World Series.

A puncture cost him any chance of getting lots of points in Germany earlier this month, although he has won at the track in Formula Three.
