Harvey was delighted with Jersey's start to life in London Division One |
Jersey started life in London Division One with a convincing 35-15 win over Tring on Saturday. In both teams' opening match of the season it was the island side that dominated from the start. Jersey played a disciplined, controlled and tactical style of rugby, much to the delight of coach Ben Harvey. "I'm delighted. I am pleased for the players, they've put an awful lot of effort in and to start the league with a win is fantastic." Jersey were up 18-3 at half-time with tries from Steve O'Brien and Mark Livesey. Mitch Burton added a conversion, a penalty and a drop goal. Jersey dominated the line-outs and scrums throughout and were never really threatened by their opponents. In the second half, O'Brien scored again and Michael Le Bourgeois added Jersey's fourth try. Burton again kicked well, adding two conversions and a further drop goal. Although Tring scored two tries to make their score respectable, the Jersey side are pleased with the start to their London One campaign.
