Gravesend 1-3 Southport

Two goals in four second-half minutes preserved Southport's unbeaten run as they triumphed at Gravesend.

The visitors went behind in the 17th minute through a Che Stadhart goal but stepped up a gear after the interval to run out deserved winners.

Peter Thomson was at the centre of all three Southport goals, starting when he netted from the penalty spot after a Lewis Watts handball early in the second half.

Thomson's cross paved the way for Neil Gibson's second goal after 71 minutes and his superb lob wrapped up the points with 16 minutes left.

A mistake by Southport goalkeeper Steve Dickinson saw Gravesend break the deadlock.

Dickinson fumbled what should have been a comfortable save from Justin Skinner's shot and Stadhart was in the right spot to slot home the rebound.

Watts literally handed Southport the equaliser six minutes into the second half when the referee spotted his handball in the area and pointed to the spot.

Thomson struck a low effort past Paul Wilkerson to put the visitors back on level terms.

Four minutes later, Southport made the crucial breakthrough.

Thomson created the opening with a run and pass on the left and Gibson sent a low right-foot effort past Wilkerson.

The home goalkeeper was left stranded by Thomson's lob from the edge of the area within four minutes which wrapped up the points.
