Barnet 0-0 Halifax

Halifax were grateful to goalkeeper Lee Butler after he produced a string of fine saves to keep Barnet at bay in a draw at Underhill.

The visitors also had chances to snatch three points and even missed a first-half penalty through Stuart Elliott.

But that would have been harsh on a home side who dominated possession only to miss the killer touch in front of goal.

Mark Gower was first to threaten for Barnet but his early free-kick was comfortably dealed with by Butler.

John Doolan then had a 30-yard shot blocked by Steve Bushell before the Barnet defender was in action at the other end, stepping in to foil Simon Parke when the Town man was in the act of shooting.

The game then came alive when Mark Arber was adjudged to have handled the ball in the Barnet area but Elliott had his penalty brilliantly saved by Lee Harrison in the home goal.

Barnet nearly took the lead moments later when a super effort from the edge of the area from Ben Strevens beat the goalkeeper but hit the woodwork.

And Butler had to move smartly to keep out an effort from Gower, with Arber heading over from the resulting corner.

Halifax substitute Andy Farrell almost made a name for himself just seconds after going on for Parke, producing a spectacular shot that was only just kept out by Harrison.

Barnet: Harrison, Pope, Arber, Pluck, Flynn, Midgley, Soloman, Doolan, Gower, Strevens, Agogo. Subs: Millard, Yakabu, Baimass, Oshitola, Bell.

Halifax: Butler, Asher, Quinn, Stoneman, Haigh, Neil Grayston, Bushell, Clarkson, Elliott, Fitzpatrick, Parke. Subs: Morgan, McAuley, Midgley, Mallon, Farrell.

Referee: T Kettle (Maidenhead).
