Tony Taggart's goal was enough to give Farnborough a shock win over high-flying Dagenham & Redbridge.

A scrappy first half saw possession and chances evenly shared between the sides, who were separated by 13 League places before kick-off.

Danny Hill was the first player to go into the book for a bad foul on Farnborough's Michael Warner.

Hill could have been sent off for a second bad challenge on Ken Charlery in the 23rd minute but the referee decided not to take further action.

The Daggers could have taken the lead just before half-time but Junior McDougald's weak shot was saved by Tony Pennock in the Farnborough goal, while Danny Hill's left-foot drive flew over the crossbar.

Dagenham continued to dominate in the second half and West's 30-yard effort produced a flying save from Pennock, who then caught West's header from the resulting corner.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 69th minute against the run of play by a moment of quality from the home side.

Taggart found himself in space and drilled a left-foot shot from 25 yards into the top left corner of the net.

Dagenham almost snatched a late equaliser but Mark Stein's left-foot effort was parried by Pennock.
