Gallienne has taken on the role of coach at Rovers AC

Former Rangers manager Mac Gallienne has returned to Guernsey football as coach of Rovers AC.

Gallienne will return to local football with the Port Soif club after a season away from the game.

He quit Rangers at the start of the 2008/09 season citing his increasing workload as both coach and president.

Gallienne said: "I missed coaching and working with players so, after being asked to work at Rovers and a little persuasion, I eventually accepted."

He added that he will be doing everything possible to turn around the fortunes of the club, who finished bottom of the Sure Mobile Senior County League Division One in the 2008/09 season.

"I'm looking forward to what will be a real challenge," said Gallienne.
