St Martin's Football Club could be playing against other top national amateur clubs in next season's FA Vase.
They have applied to the Football Association to enter the tournament, which attracts hundreds of teams from across England.
Saints are now waiting to see whether their application will be successful.
Senior coach Colin Fallaize told BBC Guernsey: "With a squad that is developing and strengthening this has always been our plan."
Teams from Guernsey have entered the competition before, with St Martin's themselves taking part in the 1970s.
"This is very much a player driven thing," said Fallaize.
"I've been on this journey as a player, we're just trying to put the club into places where we can give the players the opportunities we had.
"We're hopeful now that the FA will allow us to have another crack at going into a big cup competition."
While offshore teams are given special consideration because of the extra costs involved, St Martin's would not receive any extra funding.
The new Guernsey Athletics Football Club was also considering entering the tournament, but has not applied to the FA to do so next season.
