Guernsey footballer Dave Rihoy will miss three matches, including the Muratti vase final, after failing to win his appeal against a red card.
Rihoy was sent off in the 5-0 semi-final win against Alderney for allegedly stamping on a player.
Guernsey manager Tony Vance told the BBC, "I'm disappointed for Dave more than anyone really, as he missed the game last year through injury."
Rihoy will also miss the first two matches of the Island games in June.
"It's a big stage that Dave would like to play on and we'd like him to play on, but ultimately it gives someone else a chance," he added.
Vance is confident that Glyn Dyer will be able to deputise for the suspended Rihoy.
"I'm really looking forward to Glyn getting in the team and taking on Jersey because he's a great talent."
