Mapley wins downhill at Petit Bot

Mountain Biking: Petit Bot Downhill
Reigning champion Mapley won the first round of the downhill series

Reigning champion John Mapley has won the opening round of the 2009 Guernsey Velo Club downhill mountain bike series.

Mapley finished with a time of 43 minutes 17 seconds, two seconds ahead of Tom Sherwill, who was half a second ahead of third-placed James Roe.

In the Juniors Kieren Duquemin, who crashed on his first run, set a time of 47.04, giving him the category win.

James Mapley and Adam Sunderland were second and third in the Under-18 class.
