Watson is aiming to get a wildcard into the main Wimbledon draw

World junior number 14 Heather Watson is aiming to make it into the main Wimbledon draw this summer.

Guernsey's Watson, 16, is already guaranteed entry in the junior events at the the French Open and Wimbledon.

But Watson, who is currently in Italy for two clay court events, hopes that her form before Wimbledon will see her secure a wildcard into the main event.

Her father Ian Watson said: "She's happy and confident for what will be the biggest summer of her career."

Watson is playing as top seed in the 31st International Junior Tournament Citta' Di Santa Croce, which started on Monday, and in the 50th Trofeo Bonfiglio, the Italian Open, starting on 18 May.

Good performances in these events will give her a boost ahead of the Junior French Open, which is also played on clay.
