Gary Wallbridge says plans are already in place to hold the Grand Prix in 2009

The Guernsey Velo Club Grand Prix may go ahead in 2009 after the event due to be held over the weekend was cancelled.

A lack of entries and clashes with other events saw the cancellation of the races.

Organiser Gary Wallbridge told BBC Guernsey: "We're in early discussions with British Cycling to arrange a different date for next year."

The event would pit some of the UK's top cyclists against local riders in a hill climb and criterium.
