Japan play Guernsey in their first game of the tournament

Japan's coach believes hosts Guernsey are the favourites won win the ICC World Cricket League Division Seven tournament, which starts on Sunday.

Australian Richard Laidler has been based in Japan for seven years.

Laidler told BBC Five Live: "Guernsey are the favourites... but our players have got just as much passion.

"Our hard thing is a lot of the boys are company men and find it hard to get time off and we all pay our own way over there, they all love the game."

Japan play Guernsey at the College Field on the opening day of the tournament, with Suriname taking on Nigeria at Port Soif and Bahrain facing Gibraltar at the King George V ground.
