Promotion for Bahrain says coach

Mohsin Kamal
Kamal thinks his side will finish in the top two

The coach of Bahrain's Cricket Team, Mohsin Kamal, believes his side will be promoted after the ICC World League Division Seven Tournament in Guernsey.

The top two sides in the competition will go into Division Six and one step closer to the World Cup in 2015.

Kamal, a former Pakistani Test player, told the BBC: "We've got quite a lot of all-rounders, good at batting and bowling, who are really effective.

"I'll think we'll end up in the top two - I'm sure about it."

Kamal said that Bahrain have not competed in ICC or ACC competitions for the last two years because of internal problems.

"We could have been in the top two in the ACC rankings and now we are standing at number 11 so this tournament has a lot of importance as far as the ranking is concerned," he said.

"Cricket is not really popular as football is the number one sport.

"We have no grass pitches but six or seven grounds with cement and mats. That is why we came of the Isle of Wight to acclimatise and practice on grass pitches."
