Bucknor stood in his last one-day international in March

Legendary cricket umpire Steve Bucknor is to officiate in Guernsey.

The 62-year-old, who retired from international matches in March, will be part of the ICC World League Division Seven, to be held on the island in May.

"When we heard he was coming over, we were amazed. It lifts the profile of the whole tournament," said organiser Mark Latter.

"Steve Bucknor is a bit of a legend as an umpire, obviously he's just retired but he's very well known."

Bucknor has stood in a record 126 Test matches, as well as 179 one-day internationals.

Nigeria, Bahrain, Suriname, Japan and Gibraltar join hosts Guernsey in the first tournament on the long road to the 2015 World Cup.
