Harrogate are still searching for only their second Yorkshire Premier League win of the season after their home game against Sheffield United was tied. Simon Seager levelled the scores on 222 with a six but then Harrogate lost two wickets in the last two balls. Harrogate skipper David Stiff told BBC Radio York: "It was just that inch too short. Needing one off the last two balls we thought we'd just manage it. "It was a good game and it's nice to be at least competing." Seager took 5-73 and Stiff 4-70 in United's 222 all out. Ross Sedgley made 63 and Dan Allen 45 in Harrogate's 222-9. So Harrogate stay bottom but move on to 21 points, 23 behind nearest rivals Driffield. | I just need to nudge it around and give him the strike and he (Dan Wilson) does the business |
"We're probably one of the less experienced teams in the league, so games like this will build people's experience so hopefully next time we get into that tight situation we can pull it off," Stiff added. York extended their lead at the top to 21 points after a 10 wicket win at challengers Castleford. The home side made 153. In reply York's Dan Wilson scored 100 not out, making him only the third batsman in League history to make a century in three consecutive games (the others were Ian Dews of York and John Inglis of Harrogate). Wilson's opening partner Duncan Snell said: "The way he's batting at the moment I just need to nudge it around and give him the strike and he does the business." Scarborough's title challenge faded with a defeat at Sheffield Collegiate, though they did pick up one point batting second. Scarborough are still second but are only seven points above Collegiate in eighth.
