 Druce has a season's best of 47.43 in the 400m |
Guernsey 400m runner Tom Druce has said he is happy with his form ahead of this Saturday's crucial British Athletics League match at Footes Lane. Druce will be a key member of the Channel Islands Men's team which is aiming to secure promotion into Division Three of the League. He told BBC Guernsey: "I came second in the Copenhagen Athletics Games last Thursday which felt pretty good. "Rain was lashing down but I was happy with 47.47 seconds from lane eight." He added: "I was fifth off the final bend and finished really well down the home straight for the first time this year and I'd say Copenhagen was my best run outdoors this year quite easily." | It would be nice to finish with a victory over our very strong rivals City of Glasgow |
The Channel Islands Men's Athletics team are currently second in Division Four of the British Athletics League behind Glasgow City, with the top two gaining promotion. Coach Andrew Winnie said: "Being able to host this final match is a wonderful accolade for the Channel Islands and I am confident that the men, with the help of their supporters, will be able to maintain their promotion position in the league. "It would of course be nice to finish with a victory over our very strong rivals City of Glasgow."
