I dreamed many times about what it would feel like to cross the finish line first in a Paralympic final. When I finally did it, it wasn't what I expected, but when I turned around and saw all my family and friends going mad, that was a special moment but still quite surreal. I went up to them and they threw me down a flag and then I had to go and do the lap of honour I set off and suddenly I was in front of 30,000 people but I was on my own and it was only when I got back around to my family that the moment I will cherish for the rest of my life really started to sink in. It still felt a bit surreal at the medal ceremony and it was only afterwards when I got back to the security of my family and friends that I let myself go a bit and I realised what it meant to everyone and how big the Paralympics really is.
