I don't remember too much about the 800m final although I have watched it many times since. It was a good quality race and I was able to control it and kicked it off at the bell but with about 130m to go, the Algerian came up on my shoulder. However, I had so much focus as soon as I felt him I quickened up and managed to hold that down the home straight. Any athlete will tell you when you make a kick for it, it is a long way home and there aren't many prayers you won't say on the home straight. You know the pack behind is trying to catch you and your legs are fading but you just have to will the line on and then, when you cross it, it is what dreams are made of.
