Lawson came first and second at Brands Hatch earlier in the season

Robert Lawson is confident he can still win the SEAT Cupra Championship despite the threat of a points deduction.

Lawson leads the championship by 21 points with only two rounds remaining.

But the Richmond driver could be docked 25 points after he was judged to have broken rules regarding the camber of his wheels after round 18 qualifying.

His team JHR is contesting the ruling and Lawson said: "We can still win it. It's a case of it coming down to doing a good job at Brands Hatch."

After winning the first of the weekend's rounds at Silverstone, Lawson had to start second from the back for the second and finished seventh in what he said was a difficult race.

"The first two or three laps seemed to go really really well but for whatever reason half my windscreen fogged up which made things very difficult," he said.

"We struggled but it was purely the windscreen situation. Spray wasn't too much of an issue.

"We can clear the water off the outside but you can't really do anything with the fog on the inside and you can't reach across the other side of the car because you've got your belts on. It was very frustrating."

The final rounds are on 20 and 21 September at Brands Hatch and Lawson is looking forward to trying to win his first title.

He said: "We'll approach it the same as any other race this year.

"We'll be going to Brands Hatch to try to win races and we'll be looking for two pole positions and two wins if we can do it.

"That's the game plan. Whether that happens or not I don't know, but I'll be doing everything I can do to make that happen."
