Well ahead of the pack as the leading domestic wicket-taker in 2003, with 39 victims, Best is from the old school of West Indian fast bowling. As well as being a regular striker, the Barbadian is also miserly, allowing 18.25 runs per victim during the Carib Beer Series, and he is also on occasion downright dangerous.
On two separate occasions, Best was ordered out of the attack because of full-pitched deliveries over the batsman's waist.
Best argued he was simply trying to bowl fast yorkers, a weapon he has yet to add to his arsenal with complete success.
The pace man's first experience of international cricket came on the West Indies A tour of England, under coach Joel Garner.
But he failed to stand out in three matches against county opposition, taking just six wickets.
