With a traditional formula of six batsmen and four fast bowlers, West Indies have seldom worried about all-rounders but in Bernard they may have stumbled upon one.

A tall elegant right-hander, he only made his first-class debut a year ago, playing for West Indies B in the Carib Beer Series.

But he was elevated to the Jamaica side this season, and starred as the leading all-rounder in the competition, hitting 551 runs at an average of 45.91 and taking 26 wickets.
