ODI debut: v Sri Lanka at Colombo, 2001/02

Having just turned 21, Lawson is one of the rising young stars in the West Indies pace attack, and this series will show whether he is ready to step up to the highest level.

Lawson made his international debut in Sri Lanka in November 2001 after playing just five first-class matches.

It was the second time the talented Jamaican had visited the island after performing there in the under-19 side at the youth World Cup, where he impressed with both pace and accuracy.

In 2002, he made a handful of appearances for the senior team, performingh impressively on the West Indies A tour of England before making his Test debut against India in October.

He went on to capture miraculous figures of 6-3 against lowly Bangladesh on the same tour.

But the might of Australia will prove an entirely different proposition.
