West Indies' visit to England in 2007 came hot on the heels of a World Cup campaign in the Caribbean, with both teams beginning new eras.

Peter Moores replaced Duncan Fletcher as England coach, while Windies legend Brian Lara had retired.

After the first Test at Lord's was drawn, new West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan injured a shoulder while fielding in the second Test at Headingley as England won by an innings and 283 runs - the Windies' heaviest Test defeat in history.

Daren Ganga took over the captaincy, but two more heavy defeats followed at Old Trafford and Chester-le-Street as only Shivnarine Chanderpaul - who averaged an astonishing 148.66 in the series - managed to resist England's bowlers.

But with Ganga regarded as a Test specialist, opener Chris Gayle took the reins for the one-day matches - and the Windies won both Twenty20 internationals, before triumphing 2-1 in the ODIs.
