England were flying by the time West Indies arrived in the UK in 2004 - having beaten them 3-0 in the Caribbean that spring, before crushing New Zealand 3-0.

Although West Indies reached the one-day tri-series final, losing to New Zealand, not even Brian Lara - who had reclaimed the Test batting record by scoring 400 against England in Antigua in April - could prevent a humiliating 4-0 whitewash.

The four Tests were lost by 210 runs, 256 runs, seven wickets and 10 wickets respectively as England's batsmen feasted on a weak Windies bowling attack that was a shadow of the fearsome pace bowling threat of the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

One memorable exchange in the first Test at Lord's, with West Indies trying to save the game, saw Andrew Flintoff urge seamer Tino Best, a tail-end batsman, to "mind the windows" as he was itching to slog out against spinner Ashley Giles.

Best then charged down the wicket and was stumped - he was dropped from the team and only played four more Tests. Meanwhile, England went on to enjoy a run of eight successive Test victories.
