Match Facts
Ajax and Olympiakos have faced each other six times in European competition, with both sides winning two games apiece (D2). All four victories achieved in this fixture have been by the home side (two each).
This will be the first meeting between Ajax and Olympiakos this century, having last met in the 1998-99 edition of the UEFA Champions League – the Greek side won 1-0 at home in the first game that season, before Ajax won 2-0 in the reverse fixture in Amsterdam.
Olympiakos have won their last two UEFA Champions League matches, as many as in their previous 25 games combined (W2 D4 L19). They are looking to win three in a row for just a second time, winning between September and November in the 2015-16 season under Marco Silva.
After losing their first five games of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League campaign, Ajax have since won their last two. They last won three consecutive matches in major European competition between September and December 2021 (a run of six in the Champions League).
Olympiakos ended a run of 12 consecutive away UEFA Champions League defeats with a 1-0 win over Kairat on MD6 – only once have they enjoyed consecutive away victories, beating Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb in September/October 2015.
Ajax have the fifth-highest pass completion rate under high-intensity pressure (83%) in the UEFA Champions League this season, only behind Manchester City (86.3%), Paris SG (85.2%), Bayern Munich (84.7%) and Barcelona (83.1%).
Olympiakos have made more high-intensity pressures in the final third (914) than any other team in the UEFA Champions League this season, with the Greek side averaging 130.6 per game. Striker Ayoub El Kaabi is the player who has made the most overall in this edition (195).
Oscar Gloukh has scored three goals in his last two UEFA Champions League appearances, netting twice against Qarabag and once against Villarreal. The 21-year-old could become the second-youngest Ajax player to score in three in a row in the competition, after a 19-year-old Patrick Kluivert in 1995.
This game will be played on the eve of Rodinei’s 34th birthday – he registered two assists for Olympiakos on MD7 against Bayer Leverkusen and could become the oldest Brazilian with an assist in consecutive UEFA Champions League games; Sylvinho is the current oldest aged 33 years and 327 days in March 2008 for Barcelona.
Mehdi Taremi has had a hand in a goal in each of his last three UEFA Champions League appearances for Olympiakos (2 goals, 1 assist), only once previously having a longer run in his career (four in 2022-23 for FC Porto). The only Olympiakos player to score or assist in four in a row was Pantelis Kafes between September and November 2005.
