Match Facts

  • This will be just the third season in which Atlético Madrid have faced a Norwegian side in major European competition, after 1991-92 v Fyllingen in the Cup Winners’ Cup (W2) and 2010-11 v Rosenborg in the UEFA Europa League (W2).

  • Including qualifiers, Atlético Madrid have won all six of their games against Norwegian teams by an aggregate score of 17-4. This will be the first time they have faced a Norwegian opponent during Diego Simeone’s 14-year tenure, however.

  • Bodø/Glimt’s trip to face Atlético Madrid will be the first time since November 2007 that a Norwegian team have played a UEFA Champions League away game in Spain, with Rosenborg winning 2-0 against Valencia on that previous occasion.

  • Bodø/Glimt have faced opponents from 31 different nations in European competition, but this will be the first time they have ever faced a Spanish team.

  • Bodø/Glimt registered their first ever UEFA Champions League win on MD7 against Manchester City – the only Norwegian ever to win consecutive European Cup matches is Rosenborg, doing so four times, most recently in November 2007.

  • Only one team has applied more high-intensity pressures to an opponent in a UEFA Champions League match this season than Bodø/Glimt did against Manchester City on MD7 (484), with Olympiakos making 485 in their 2-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen (also on MD7).

  • Despite only ranking 13th for total line-breaking passes (418), Atlético Madrid have made the most defensive line-breaking passes of any team in the UEFA Champions League this season (58).

  • Scorer of their third goal in the 3-1 win over Man City, Bodø/Glimt’s Jens Petter Hauge has contested the most duels (104) in the UEFA Champions League this season. Of the four occasions a player has contested 25+ duels in a match this season, two have been Hauge (25 vs Borussia Dortmund, 25 vs Man City).

  • Atlético Madrid’s Pablo Barrios is one of only three midfielders with 50+ line-breaking passes (62) and 50+ progressive carries (51) in the UEFA Champions League this season, along with Vitinha and Aleksandar Pavlovic.

  • Kasper Høgh’s brace on MD7 against Manchester City took him to nine major European goals for Bodø/Glimt, joint with Amahl Pellegrino for the most goals for the club in Europe. Only two players have reached double figures for goals for a Norwegian side – Harald Brattbakk (16) and Roar Strand (12) both for Rosenborg.
