Kristen Wiig: People quote Bridesmaids at me on airplanes

Kristen Wiig says the success of her 2011 comedy Bridesmaids has made sure she can rarely take a plane without being interrupted by a fan.

She spoke to Nick Grimshaw about the film, which is his all-time favourite, when she dropped into the Radio 1 Breakfast show.

"It mostly happens when I’m on airplanes," said Kristen when Nick asked about people quoting the movie at her.

"They're like "Help me I’m poor."

The film made Kristen an international star but she also revealed that she's only ever watched it once.

"I was obviously part of the process of it coming together and then I saw it at the premiere but I haven't watched it since that," she added.

"Occasionally I’ll see it when I’m changing the channel."

During their chat, Nick revealed that he is such a fan of the film that he has a quote from the movie tattooed on his arm. Much to Kristen's surprise.

"I love it, are you kidding?" Kristen said when he showed her the tattoo, which reads 'I can't'.

"If you had a picture of my face on your calf... Actually even then that's kind of cute."

She also spoke about the tattoo she's getting removed - a Leo symbol, which was later turned into an 'ohm' sign and is "surrounded it with a sun and there's vines coming out of it."

"I walked into a tattoo parlour, looked in the book and said I’ll have that one," she admitted.

Kristen was on the show to talk about her latest movie, Despicable Me 3, and she says there is a special sort of excitement when working on an animated film rather than live-action.

"The cool thing about doing the animated movies is when you see it at the end," she told Nick.

"I've been working on it for two years and I actually haven't seen the final cut yet. When movie's done and you finally do, you have no idea what you're going to see."

Despicable Me 3 is released in cinemas on 30 June 2017
